INC2008 Social EventsThe 2008 conference will continue the INC tradition of social events with two events offering an opportunity for delegates to relax after the formal presentation sessions. On the Tuesday evening we will take a boat trip along the river Tamar with an on-board buffet, and on the Wednesday evening the conference banquet will be held in Tavistock. Tuesday 8th July 2008Following the day's presentations, delegates will meet at the conference centre at approximately 18:00 for the short walk to the Mayflower Steps for the departure of our boat. We will board a small boat for our journey along the picturesque Tamar River which divides Devon and Cornwall. During the tour, a buffet will be served on board. The boat offers ample seating and can carry up to 100 people, it has two levels with the upper deck providing a perfect location to enjoy the views of Plymouth Sound, Drakes Island, Plymouth Hoe, and Mount Edgcumbe Park. A cash bar will be available for the duration of the trip. Our boat trip will take us up the river Tamar past the largest Naval Dockyard in Western Europe and towards the Tamar Bridge and famous Royal Albert bridge, crossing the river Tamar at Saltash. This bridge the last of all of Brunel's railway bridges is said to be the greatest. The bridge was opened in 1859, the year of Brunels death. NB it is advisable to bring a jacket for the boat trip as we will be on the boat until around 22:00. Wednesday 9th July 2008Our conference dinner will be held at Tavistock Town Hall. Straddling the fast flowing river Tavy below the Western edge of Dartmoor, Tavistock stands in the heart of an area of tremendous natural beauty. It is a classic West Country Market Town, with a population of 11,000. We will depart from Plymouth at approximately 18:00 for the coach ride to Tavistock.
